On February 12, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Rochester partnered with Root Catering to bring comfort, nourishment, and community support to local families during Community Love Week. Through the generosity of Owner and Chef Kristin Klock-Wattle and the Root Catering team, 150 freshly prepared meals were delivered to Club families at the Club’s Genesee Street location.
The meals—featuring Carolina Gold BBQ Chicken, Mac & Cheese, and Roasted Broccolini—were part of Root Catering’s larger countywide effort to provide 500 meals to community organizations across Monroe County, helping ensure families have access to warm, high-quality food while strengthening local partnerships focused on community care.
“We’re just happy to be here,” said Chef Skylar Davis of Root Catering. “It makes our work really fulfilling to see smiles on people’s faces and help out wherever we can.”
Beyond the meals themselves, the delivery represented something even greater: a shared commitment to supporting youth and families. Community partnerships like this allow the Boys & Girls Clubs of Rochester to extend its impact beyond daily programming, helping families feel supported, valued, and connected.
“When community partners step forward to support families in such a meaningful way, it strengthens the entire community,” said Dwayne Mahoney, Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Rochester. “We are deeply grateful to Root Catering for their generosity and for helping ensure our families feel cared for during Community Love Week.”
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Rochester continues to work alongside partners like Root Catering to create opportunities that uplift young people and families, demonstrating how collaboration and compassion can make a lasting difference throughout the Rochester community.
