On Wednesday, May 20, our members experienced an unforgettable afternoon as the Pace University Women’s Lacrosse team stopped by Boys & Girls Clubs of Rochester ahead of their NCAA Division II Women’s Lacrosse Championship Semi-Final game in Rochester.

The visit brought excitement and plenty of movement to the Club as members learned lacrosse fundamentals, played games alongside student-athletes, and experienced a sport that was new to many of them. More importantly, they had the chance to connect with positive role models who showed what teamwork, dedication, and leadership look like both on and off the field.

Moments like these help create opportunities that go beyond everyday programming. By introducing members to new activities and experiences, we continue opening doors that encourage confidence, curiosity, and healthy lifestyles.

“Having the opportunity to bring collegiate student-athletes into the Club creates experiences our members remember long after the day is over,” said Reggie Smith, Health & Physical Education Coordinator at Boys & Girls Clubs of Rochester. “Our kids weren’t just learning lacrosse—they were staying active, building confidence, and seeing firsthand how teamwork, discipline, and having fun can all go together. You could feel the excitement in the room.”

The visit reflected what makes the Club special—creating spaces where young people feel encouraged to try something new, build relationships, and discover interests they may carry with them into the future.

Thank you to the Pace University Women’s Lacrosse team for spending time with our members and making Wednesday such a memorable day.
