The Boys & Girls Clubs of Rochester is proud to celebrate a major achievement for one of our own.
On Tuesday, April 21, 2026, Nasir Bicknell was named the Western New York Boys & Girls Clubs Youth of the Year by the Boys & Girls Clubs Collaborative of Western New York — the highest honor a Club member can receive. The award recognizes young people who demonstrate exceptional character, leadership, and a strong commitment to serving both their community and their Club.
Nasir represents the very best of what it means to be a Club kid.
Through his leadership, dedication, and willingness to uplift those around him, Nasir has made a meaningful impact within our Club and beyond. Whether serving as a role model for younger members or stepping up to lead by example, he consistently demonstrates integrity, responsibility, and a passion for giving back.
“We are incredibly proud of Nasir and all that he has accomplished,” said Executive Director Dwayne Mahoney. “He embodies the values we strive to instill in every young person who walks through our doors. His leadership, character, and commitment to service make him truly deserving of this honor.”
As the Western New York Youth of the Year, Nasir will go on to compete for the 2026 New York State Youth of the Year, representing the region on a larger stage and continuing his journey as a voice for young people.
Each year, thousands of teens participate in Youth of the Year competitions across the country, with one individual ultimately named National Youth of the Year — serving as a voice for young people and an ambassador for Boys & Girls Clubs nationwide.
This recognition reflects not only Nasir’s hard work, but also the power of mentorship, opportunity, and a supportive environment. At the Boys & Girls Clubs of Rochester, we are committed to helping young people reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens.
We are proud. We are inspired. And we will be cheering Nasir on every step of the way!
