The future is bright at Boys & Girls Clubs of Rochester.

Earlier today, we proudly celebrated 26 exceptional Club members during the Eva and Vaughn Morgan Scholarship Luncheon, recognizing their academic achievement, leadership, perseverance, and commitment to reaching their goals. Surrounded by family, friends, supporters, and community partners, each recipient was honored for the hard work that has prepared them for the next chapter of their educational journey.

The luncheon was filled with encouragement and inspiration from leaders who understand the transformative power of education and the lasting impact of the Club.

Executive Director Dwayne Mahoney congratulated each scholarship recipient and reminded them that their accomplishments are just the beginning. He encouraged students to embrace every opportunity ahead while remembering the values and support system that helped shape their success at the Club.

Kevin Morgan, Boys & Girls Clubs of Rochester Board Member and representative of the Morgan Family Fund, spoke about the family’s commitment to investing in young people through the Eva and Vaughn Morgan Scholarship. He shared the importance of education as a pathway to opportunity and reaffirmed the Morgan family’s belief in the mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of Rochester to help every young person reach their full potential.

John Rizzo, Managing Principal of Doeren Mayhew’s New York Region, reflected on his firm’s partnership with the Club and emphasized the value of education, determination, and community support. He encouraged recipients to continue learning, remain curious, and use the opportunities before them to make a positive impact on the world around them.

The luncheon also featured heartfelt remarks from Nasir Bicknell, the 2026 Western New York Youth of the Year, who shared his own journey as a Club kid. Nasir spoke about the personal growth he experienced through Boys & Girls Clubs of Rochester, encouraging recipients to embrace challenges, believe in themselves, and take advantage of every opportunity the Club provides.

Together, the messages from each speaker reinforced a common theme: education opens doors, perseverance creates opportunity, and the support of a caring community can change lives.

The Eva and Vaughn Morgan Scholarship continues to invest in young people who exemplify the values of academic excellence, leadership, and service. As these 26 recipients pursue higher education, career training, and other post-secondary opportunities, they carry with them the encouragement of an entire community that believes in their potential.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the Morgan Family Fund for making these scholarships possible, Doeren Mayhew for its continued partnership and support, and to every family member, donor, and community leader who joined us in celebrating these remarkable students.

Congratulations to all 26 recipients. We can’t wait to see all that you accomplish.
