ImageMakers
This national photography program helps Club members learn and practice photography,
expressing themselves in exciting and innovative ways. All Club members
are encouraged to experiment with black-and-white, color and digital photography,
as well as Photo Essay and alternative photography processes. The program
has three parts: a state-of-the-art photography curriculum, fun ideas and
resources for creative photo projects and the opportunity for recognition
through Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s annual National Photography
contest.
Ceramics
Members of all ages create colorful wall tiles and dramatic murals, as well
as functional ware like coffee mugs, dinner plates and serving pieces. Young
imaginations get a workout as novice ceramists create fanciful fish-shaped
plates and other decorative pieces. Colorful and creative designs that relate
to the Club and its programs are proudly displayed above the entrance to
the Club’s main facility.
National Fine Arts Exhibit
This year-round fine arts program promotes artistic expression and cultural
enrichment through classes, special events and fine art exhibits. All Club
members are encouraged to discover and develop their creative talents through
drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, mixed media and sculpture. Artwork
is exhibited at many local and regional locations, giving young artists the
opportunity to see their work professionally displayed before their families,
peers and community. Selected pieces are then considered for inclusion in
the National Fine Arts Exhibit, showcased at Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s
National Conference.
Story Hour
Storytelling is an ancient art that has been bringing people together for generations.
What better way to infuse youngsters with the joys of reading than to open
a book and tell them a story? Our guest storytellers share their favorite
popular stories and demonstrate their enthusiasm for reading with Club members
of all ages. |
